How Are Dr Perricone And Acai Berry Associated

Acai is best recognized for being identified as the #1 superfood. This claim was made by best selling author, Dr. Nicholas Perricone. Dr. Perricone puts out a regular list of his top ten superfoods and acai berries topped the list.

If you have never heard of Dr. Perricone, he is a very frequent guest on the Oprah show and a top selling author that specializes in weight loss, anti-anging techniques and quite a few other key topics surrounding nutritional and good health.

Dr. Perricone has a list of what he calls the Top 10 superfoods. There are more than 10 so called super foods but here are ten that are high in antioxidants, fiber, or fatty acids. Acai has all three.

* Açaí
* The Allium Family
* Barley
* Beans and Lentils
* Buckwheat
* Green Foods
* Hot Peppers
* Nuts and Seeds
* Sprouts
* Yogurt and Kefir

So, one of the direct connections with Dr. Perricone and acai berry is that he gives it high praise as one of the few superfoods that contains fiber, antioxidants and essential fatty acids. There are not many that can make the same claim.

In his book, “The Perricone Weight Loss Diet-A Simple 3 Part Plan to Lose the Fat, The Wrinkles and The Years,” Dr. Perricone talked about acai and said…

“Acai is good for weight loss because it contains cyanidin, a highly antioxidant phytochemical compound.” This claim is based on a Japanese research report that found evidence that cyanidins work by reducing fat absorption and “draining body fat”. (see pp. 59)

Aside from his admiration of the power of acai berries, Dr. Perricone and acai berry is connected through his association with Oprah, his being a recurrent guest on the show, and ultimately how he helped to accelerate its exposure to the massive number of people that watch her show and read his books
