The Truth About Conversational Hypnosis


Conversational hypnosis, otherwise called covert hypnosis, is the ability to control the thinking and response of the person you are talking to. This translates to being able to manipulate another person to think the way you want them to think, and in layman’s terms it could be referred to as the “power of persuasion”.

Although it is considered a very useful skill, conversational hypnosis has not gained the level of popularity it deserves, thus not a lot of people know what it is and how to take advantage of it.

This kind of hypnosis of course involves people in a conversation, where one persuades the other. Though it seems very simple to do, it is actually a complex art of persuasion. There are several steps involved which you need to master through constant practice.

However, once you have gone through each step, you will simply become a natural on conversational hypnosis, and along with this skill, you could be a very effective person in whatever field you are using this “power”.

How does it work? There are at least 3 steps involved.

Step 1: Language and Rapport

It starts with the foundation of conversational hypnosis, which is language. You should know confusion and ambiguous words, shock and surprise words, all of which are necessary for you to be able to communicate by means of hypnosis.

Thereafter, you create an environment conducive for putting the other person in a trance. You begin by building rapport. Tone of voice is very important in this step, as your goal is to be able to persuade others into thinking what you want them to think.

Step 2: Induction

This is where solidarity comes in. Begin by making use of the “art of hypnotic gaze” wherein you will hold the gaze, keep your tone low, and focus on the person you are putting in a trance. Afterwards, you speak with the other person using metaphors, and make sure that what you are saying is not directly relevant so you can easily make your listener believe that you are talking about something else entirely. He will unconsciously make a connection with what you said.

Step 3: Frame Controls and the Subconscious Mind

You will need various types of frame controls, as well as implications and assumptions to help strengthen these. Then you make use of trance processes which revolves around hypnotic suggestions and future “memories” which will be embedded in the other person’s subconscious mind.
