Great Heart Smart Hamburger Meat Recipe

Hamburger Stroganoff

8oz lean ground beef or ground sirloin
½ cup chopped onion
2 cups cooked egg noodles (no yokes for heart smart version)
10 ¾ can 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup (lower sodium for heart smart version)
1 can sliced mushrooms (optional)
¼ cup low fat sour cream (fat free for heart smart version)
Salt and pepper to taste

Brown the ground beef and onion and remove from heat. Then drain the fat. Next, stir in the cooked egg noodles, can of cream of mushroom soup, sliced mushrooms (optional), and salt and pepper(watch salt in heart smart version).Return to heat and simmer about 5-10 minutes stirring frequently. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream just before serving.

Makes about 4 servings.

Here is a Great Recipe for Heart Smart Brownies

¾ C Flour
¼ C plus 2T cocoa powder
½ C sugar
½ C Splenda
¼ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
1/3 C unsweetened applesauce
3 egg whites
1 tsp vanilla

Combine flour, cocoa, sugar, Splenda, baking soda, and salt and mix well. Stir in applesauce, egg whites and vanilla. Spray an 8” square baking pan with cooking spray. Spread batter evenly in the pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 min. or until the edges are firm and the center is almost set.

These brownies are cake like not fudge like. They are a great light dessert.
