Natural Treatment For Uterine Fibroids-How I Shrank My Fibroids

It’s almost a year now since I started writing about natural treatment for fibroids and I’m absolutely delighted to report that my fibroids have not grown back. My own experience is what inspired me to write, as I’d spent years suffering from intolerable symptoms. I am still totally symptom-free and live what I consider to be a normal life. A couple of years ago, things were very different indeed.

When I was originally diagnosed, I knew something was very wrong, but naively hadn’t predicted uterine fibroids! What I had imagined was a worse case scenario and I expected to be told I had a cancerous tumor. However, I was diagnosed with large fibroids (one was the size of a small melon) and was told I needed a hysterectomy. Now, being anti-surgery (as most of us are!) and anti drug treatment, I needed to satisfy myself that I had considered every option. However, I felt that time was running out as I was forever tired, spent a fortune on sanitary napkins and tampons, took extra strength iron tablets and leaked urine when I laughed-all in all not a good state of affairs!

I knew that a hysterectomy carried all the risks of major surgery and that I would possibly go through the menopause early. In addition, I really didn’t want to take the hormonal drugs I’d have needed to shrink the fibroids before surgery as I didn’t want to risk osteoporosis.

I approached my doctor to ask about uterine fibroids natural treatment as I’d been doing some research on the internet. He was pretty dismissive, but agreed we would postpone the surgery until I had made a final decision. In my mind, I knew I did not want to go through with the hysterectomy, but my body was telling my I needed to do something quickly. I just felt under the weather all the time and relationships between me and my husband were at an all time low. Fibroids do not make you feel sexy! I was only in my thirties (still am, just!) and could not face at least ten more years of this.

I decided I had nothing to lose by trying out natural treatment for uterine fibroids so, armed with what I thought looked like a great system, I began treatment around a month after I first saw my doctor.

Good natural treatment for uterine fibroids revolves around treating the causes of the uterine fibroids. Now this is easier said than done as it is not possible to determine just what has caused them in individual women. Because of this, it is absolutely vital to eliminate each and every potential and possible cause to ensure that, quite simply, they cannot thrive. This means that treatment needs to be multifaceted and I found that at times I needed motivation to keep up with it, especially in the very early days when I was not sure if it was working.

Looking at what I did, there are a few simple steps which anyone can take who is wanting to try out natural treatment for fibroids. Firstly, one of the main causes of fibroids is excess estrogen. Not only the natural sort, but that from pesticides and environmental toxins. Maintaining a healthy weight can help to reduce natural estrogen (as it is both stored in and manufactured by, fat cells). To remove estrogen mimicking compounds, a liver detox is essential. To do this, the essential elements are drinking at least 2 liters of water daily, avoiding any processed meats and certain herbs such as Milk Thistle can be used specifically for liver cleansing.

Another tip is to eat foods which are naturally anti-inflammatory such as oats, hops and cumin, as some women are prone to fibroid growth due to being sensitive to inflammatory conditions.

My day to day symptoms, such as heavy periods and bloating began to diminish within a couple of weeks of beginning uterine fibroids natural treatment. Actual shrinkage (which I could see and measure by my clothing fit!) began after about 6 weeks. Within 4 months, my largest fibroid had shrunk by a third.

I always recommend natural treatment for uterine fibroids to anyone who listens now. However, I would say that you do need a degree of motivation. I personally found that the quick results were motivation in themselves.

Fibroids are a condition which respond very well to natural remedies and they are an ideal condition to treat because as they are so rarely life-threatening. It makes complete sense to try out a natural treatment for fibroids before resorting to surgery or any of the hormonal drugs which can cause their own side effects.
